Kelley Wilde was born circa 1947 in Buffalo, Erie Country, New York, United States. In 1968 he immigrated to Canada. Circa 1968 he renounced United States citizenship and regained it later.
It is unknown where Kelley Wilde received his education.
Kelley Wilde began writing horror fiction on his mother’s suggestion. He related to Don O’Briant in an interview for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he had been feeling frustrated in his attempts to get his book, The Green Card, published. The Green Card was a nonfiction piece dealing with Wilde’s experiences when he renounced his American citizenship following his growing sense of disillusionment during the 1960s. He had been allowed by Canadian authorities to reside in Canada but neglected to become a citizen in that country. When the American bicentennial arrived, Wilde suddenly realized that he was a man without a country and began the process of trying to return to his country. Though he was eventually successful in his efforts, his book on the subject was repeatedly rejected by publishing houses.
Wilde’s first novel published was The Suiting, a tale of a murderous spirit that is transferred from one man to another through a suit of clothes. When gangster Jean Paul Bouchette is murdered, his handsome, custom-made suit finds its way into the hands of mild-mannered clerk Victor Frankel. Soon Frankel is acting and, with some weight training, looking more like Bouchette; indeed, in the end, Frankel commits a murder.
