In 1936 Lidia with her family moved to Chelyabinsk, where Glinkina ended secondary school and graduated from Chelyabinsk State Pedagogical University (1953).
After finishing postgraduate course at the Russian Language Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences she worked there in the lexical sector. Since 1957 Lidia was in charge of the Russian language Department in Chelyabinsk State Pedagogical Institute (1987-1999). Area of her scientific interests: the history of the Russian language, the problems of variation and the formation of its norms, linguistic studies in the South Urals, applied aspects of linguistics. Moreover, Lidia leads an active popularization activity. She is included in the international directory "Who is who?"
