In 1352, he followed Emperor Goraurakami to Otokoyama and fought the forces of Yoshiakira Ashikaga, who besieged the Imperial forces. With a band of warriors including Nagashiffo the emperor broke through the siege. In the confusion of battle, the chest containing the Sacred Mirror, one of the three Imperial Treasures, fell into a rice paddy.
