In 1897 Nikolay Arsenievich graduated from the Voronezh Theological Seminary and the historical and literary department of the Saint Petersburg Historical and Philological Institute in 1901.
Teacher of Russian language and history (1902-1914), inspector (1914-1918) of the Nizhny Novgorod commercial school. Lecturer at various schools in the city of Nizhny Novgorod (1918-1920), inspector-methodologist of the provincial department of public education (1920-1922). Associate Professor, Department of Preschool Education, Faculty of Education, Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical Institute (since 1922).
Author of books about Ivan Savvich Nikitin (1910), Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev (1910), "Boldino and A.S. Pushkin" (Nizhny Novgorod, 1929).
