"The New York" portfolio was produced by Weston in 1951. It contains Weston's photographs of New York from the 1940s - photographs that contrast with his photographs of San Francisco and evidence Weston's growth as a photographer. The original 1951 title page and the introduction by Beaumont Newhall are reproduced in facsimile. Included is an afterword by art historian Roger Aikin.

Education
Roger Cushing Aikin completed a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Photography at the University of Oregon. In 1977 he completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Art History at the University of California at Berkeley.
Career
His teaching career spans Colorado College, the University of Colorado and the University of California at Davis. The photographer works with both an 11 x 14 view camera and in 21/4-inch format. Roger Cushing Aikin is also interested in multiple-image contact prints. His research is focused on Renaissance art and the West Coast regional school of photography.
