In 1966 she graduated from the Moscow secondary school №637. In 1971 she graduated from the Central United flight technical school of the Central Committee DOSAAF of the USSR, received the qualification of instructor pilot. In 1972 she graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze. In 1976 she graduated from the aircraft department of the Gromov Flight Research Institute of the Ministry of Aviation Industry in Zhukovskiy. February 25, 1986 she defended her thesis at Bauman Moscow State Technical University and received the degree of a candidate of technical Sciences.
Since December 1974 she was assigned to the School of test pilots of the Flight Research Institute. She passed a special training course on piloting MiG-21. Since March 1976 she worked as a test pilot of The Scientific Production Association “Vzlet” of Minradioprom. Flied on MiG-21, Su-7, Il-18, Il-28. From May 1978 to June 1981 she worked as a test pilot of the Moscow machine-building plant "Speed" of the Design Bureau of A. Yakovlev. Since August 1980 she was assigned to the cosmonaut detachment of The Scientific Production Association “Energy”.
The first flight - 19-27 August 1982 - as a research cosmonaut of Soyuz T-7/Soyuz T-5 spacecraft and the long-term orbital station Salyut-7 together with L. Popov and A. Serebrov under the program of the second visiting crew of the first main crew of the Salyut-7 station (A. Berezova - V. Lebedev). The flight duration was 7 days 21 hours 52 minutes 24 seconds. The second flight – 17-29 July 1984 as a flight engineer of spacecraft "Soyuz T-12" and the long-term orbital station "Salyut-7" together with V. Djanibekov and J. Wolf under the program of the visiting crew of the third main crew of the station "Salut-7" (L. Kizim and V. Solovyov, Oleg Atkov).
