Taketomo Kikuchi followed in father and grandfather footsteps, and joined the army of Prince Kanenaga. Realizing the weakness of the Imperial Army he persuaded Koretake Aso to join the Imperial standard, and together they defeated Sadayo Imagawa at Mizu- shimagahara. The enemy, however, regained its power and conquered the entire half of southern Kyusnu, which recorded a decline in the Imperial power. After Kumabe Castle, headquarters of Kikuchi Clan, fell the Imperial Army lost grip of Kyushu (1381).
