Tsugaru Tarnenobu was born in 1550 in Japan. He was the son of Morinobu, coming of a long line of warriors of the Nambu Clan.
Tarnenobu Tsugaru received the name Tsugaru and the confirmation of the territory of this name, to the north of Japan, of Hideyoshi, to whom he had submitted. He distinguished himself during the Genki and Tensho eras by subduing the powerful clans and unifying the whole of Tsugaru district. Later, serving under Ieyasu Tokugawa he again showed his merit during the Sekigahara Battle (1600).
