Background

Taylor Morrison was born on October 21, 1971, in Topeka, Kansas, United States. He is a son of David Morrison, a psychiatrist, and Carol Morrison, a manager.

Education

Taylor Morrison became passionate about drawing at early childhood. He devoted almost all his time to painting and sketching.

To develop his skills, he entered Rhode Island School of Design where he met a lot of book illustrators who made a good living from their art. It gave him an idea of his future career.

Although Morrison wasn’t satisfied with the impractical approach of the curriculum, he graduated from the art school with a Master of Fine Arts degree in animation and illustration.

Career

Taylor Morrison published his first self-illustrated book, ‘Antonio's Apprenticeship’, in 1996. The volume about the training of a fresco painter was followed the next year by another publication about a marble sculptor.

All the subsequent publications of the author were focused on different aspects of human and natural history, like the era where photojournalism didn’t exist, the history of the mapping of the coast of California, or the biography of the artist James Earle Fraser.

Morrison has also contributed articles and illustrations to Cricket magazine.

Achievements

• Taylor Morrison is an accomplished author and illustrator whose own books and pictures for publications by others are recognized both by critics and readers.
  
  So, an Emergency Librarian contributor stated that Morrison’s book ‘The Neptune Fountain’ “is an entertaining and informative addition to stories of great artists” and the images from it are “vibrant”.
