(The thermodynamic method of analysis, which is an effecti...)
The thermodynamic method of analysis, which is an effective tool for solving a vast range of problems in modern science and technology, is based on a small number of fundamental principles and a rigorous mathematical apparatus. This book is devoted to a study of this apparatus. Intended to meet the needs of students and graduates majoring in thermal physics, physical engineering, and physiocotechnical specialties, this book systematizes mathematical tools of thermodynamics, and concurrently, emphasizes questions that are often a source of error in thermodynamic calculations. This book deals with thermodynamic characteristic functions, the differential equations for a one-phase region, the discontinuities of thermodynamic functions on boundary curves, the equations for a two-phase region, the peculiarities of the mathematical description of the critical point, and the equations for complex systems. It is aimed at researchers and postgraduate students specializing in physical engineering, thermal physics and applied physics.
