Studied at Glasgow High School. Lived in Glasgow until 1885.
Travelled with parents to Australia. Lived both in Sydney and Melbourne for five years. Returned to England, studied at the Slade School under Professor Legros, also under MM. Bougereau and Ferrier at Paris for a number of years.
Returned again to England and exhibited first pictures at the Institute of Painters in Oil, Piccadilly. Settling in his native city shortly afterwards. Worked for some years in North Lancashire, and is settled now in the Isle of Man.
Has exhibited in most of the important British and Continental Galleries. Landscape painter.
