Chin Yao was a Chinese official and lawyer.


Mr. Chin was born in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China, in 1884.


Chin Yao graduated from Meiji University, Japan.


Chin Yao was made a Colonel by President Li Yuan-hung in 1921. He was a counsellor to the Bureau of Foreign Affairs in Shanghai since 1924. In 1926 he was appointed counsellor of the 26th Army of the Nationalist Revolutionary Army and concurrently special commissioned-officer of the Headquarters of the Commander-in-Chief of the Nationalist Revolutionary Forces. Mr. Chin served as a counsellor to the Headquarters of the Garrison Commander of Shanghai and Wusong and counsellor of the French Consulate in Shanghai in 1927. The following year he became a member of the Chinese Ratepayers' Association. Then he was appointed a principal of Chin Yung School and served as a legal practitioner in Shanghai.
