Mr. Wen educated in Hongkong and at Tsing Hua College in Peking, China in 1913-1914 and Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States, where he recieved Bachelor of Arts in 1917, Master of Arts in 1918 and Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1920.
Yu-ching Wen worked as an assistant to Prof. Theodore Lyman, director of Jefferson Laboratory in Harvard University in 1920-1921, professor of physics, Tsing Hua College in 1921-1922, professor of Peking University in 1922-1927, President of Customs College in 1928-1929, director of the Bureau of International Telegraphs, Ministry of Communications and of the Chinese Government Radio Station at Chenju in 1930-1931.
Mr. Wen was also counsellor of the Ministry of Finance in 1931, then reappointed director of the Bureau of International Telegraphs and concurrently chairman of the Purchasing Committee of the Ministry of Comunications in 1932-1936, director of the Department of Telegraph Administration of the Ministry of Communications since January 1936.
