Career
He is the honorary life president of the International Academy of Law and Mental Health, and the editor-in-chief both of its International Journal of Law and Psychiatry and of Springer"s International Library on Ethics, Law and the New Medicine He sits on the editorial board of the Journal of Ethics in Mental Health. He has been made a Chevalier of the Légion d"honneur in France, a Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion, and Grande Ufficiale in Italy. He was awarded an honourary doctorate by the Sigmund Freud University in 2015.
In 1968, Weisstub married artist Lola Rosamund Rasminsky, daughter of the then governor of the Bank of Canada Louis Rasminsky.
A graduate of Yale Law School, Weisstub taught at York University"s Osgoode Hall Law School for 19 years and one year (fall 1978 to spring 1979) at the Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia before moving to University of Montreal in 1993.
