Background

Grigory Yakovlevich Baklanov (his real name was Friedman) was born on the 11th of September, 1923 in Voronezh.

Education

Grigory Baklanov studied in school No. 7, and then in school No. 3 of Voronezh. After the 9th form he entered the aviation technical school. He passed the examinations for the 10th grade externally.

Grigory Yakovlevich Baklanov was a participant of the Great Patriotic War. He graduated from the artillery school in 1943 and Maxim Gorky Literary Institute in 1951.

Career

For several months Grigory Yakovlevich worked as a mechanic and riveter at the 18th aircraft factory before the Great Patriotic War. In 1986-1993 he was the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "Znamya". Barlanov’s works were published since 1951. He is the author of many works, the best of which are included in the compilation of his works (Moscow, 1983-1985, volume 1-4, 1999, volume 1-3).
