In 1930, graduated from the Philology Department of Tokyo University. Immediately after graduation, 1930-1934, went to Britain and studied at Oxford University.
Following his return to Japan in 1942, Harushige Kozu was appointed instructor of the Literature Department of Tokyo University. He also received the Doctor of Literature Degree in 1946 and was appointed assistant professor of the same university.

Kiyozo Kazama is a Japanese professor of comparative linguistics, specializing in Latin and Greek, and emeritus professor at Tokyo University. He studied comparative grammar under Kozu Harushige at the department of linguistics at Tokyo University, and graduated in 1952.
