Ikuta Chk was born in Tottori Prefecture, original name Hiroji.
While still a student at Tokyo University made friends with such writers as Sohei Morita, Bin Ueda, Kocho Baba and others and contributed many essays to their magazine.
After graduating Ikuta and Kocho Baba founded a young women’s literary club with the aim to encourage young writers. Was a prolific writer and translated many foreign classics into Japanese, including Zarathustra "Victory of Death". Among her original works is Enko (round light), Rakka-no-Gotoku (like a falling flower) and Shakuson (Buddha).
