Since 1924 he directed the musical part of the Moscow Theater of Satire, then he worked as a musical director and principal conductor of the Leningrad Music Hall. He was the Chairman of the Leningrad branch of the Union of Composer. Since 1943 he lived in Moscow. In November 1938 In Voronezh during the Soviet music decade there were held meetings with pupils,and teachers of the Voronezh Music School, Children's Music School No. 1 and concerts from the works of Dunaevsky.
