She graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Culture in 1972.
She worked as a teacher of the regional cultural and educational school in the city of Bobrov in 1967-1971, secondary specialized music school in Voronezh in 1971-1989, choirmaster of the technical and vocational education ensemble "Spring Dawns" in 1972-1974, deputy principal of the children's art school No. 8 in 1989-1991.
She was a creator and artistic director of the choir studio "Tonika" in the Youth Centre of Voronezh Central District. Since 1992 this choir studio had been laureate of such festivals and competitions as "Golden Cockerel" in Tikhvin in 1996, “Bulgarian Riviera” in Varna in 1997, “Silver Voices” in Ivanovo in 2003 and others. She also created and taught a children's pop group “Montpensier” at the Community Centre, which since 1996 had been a winner of such festivals and competitions as “Eaglets of Russia” in the city of Tuapse in 1999, “Starfall” in Sevastopol in 2001, “Golden Fish” in Sevastopol in 2003 and others.
Pikalova has been the president of the Voronezh public organization “Young Talents”, a member of the Coordinating Council of the All-Russian Union of Public Associations “Civil Society for Russian Children” since 2001, the initiator of the Prize “Children's Golden Fund of the Voronezh Region”.
