Peter Yevgrafovich graduated from the school at the Reformed Church in Saint Petersburg, the historical-philological department of the University of Paris (1922).
Peter Yevgrafovich Kovalevsky was a lecturer at the Orthodox Theological Institute in Paris (since 1925), teacher of Russian language, literature and history in the French Lyceum "Michelet". Since 1930, he gave lectures at the Russian Department of History and Philology at the University of Paris, since 1934 at the Slavic Institute at Geneva University. Chairman of the Orthodox Brotherhood of St. Alexander Nevsky in Paris (1921-1971).
In summer, he often lived in ancestral estate (the village of Yutanovka, Biryuchensky district, Voronezh region), his last visit was in July-August 1919. Since 1920 he was in exile.
